Liberté

Pour commencer, une chanson de Georges Moustaki que je connais depuis que j’ai une dizaine d’années. Nous la chantions pendant les veillées devant le feu de camp. Elle revient régulièrement dans ma mémoire avec une force incroyable.
To begin with a song of Georges Moustaki. I know it since I am teenager. We sang it at night in front of the campfire. It comes back regularly in my mind with an incredible energy.

Il n'y a pas très longtemps, un ami me racontait combien il souffrait du manque de liberté en Chine. Aucun doute je pouvais le comprendre. Mais en même temps, je me sentais au contraire très libre dans ce pays. J'avais l'impression de pouvoir faire tout ce que je voulais. Personne pour me rappeler mes obligations de faire ci ou çà. J'étais libre de décider quand et où aller, sans avoir à expliquer à quiconque à quelle heure je serais rentrée.
De la même façon il avait trouvé en Chine des opportunités professionnelles vraiment exceptionnelles. Une certaine liberté d'entreprendre.
En fait nous parlions tous les 2 d'intimité. Et je me suis rendue compte que loin des valeurs, des grandes idées ou de la philosophie, la liberté était très liée avec l'intimité.

Not long ago, a friend of mine told me he was suffering from the lack of freedom in China. For sure, I could understand. But in the meantime, I felt myself really free to be there in China. I had the feeling that I could do whatever I wanted. Nobody was there reminded me to do that or that. I was on my own, deciding where and when to go, not having to explain to anybody at what time I'll be back.
Actually, he had found in China some extraordinary professionnal opportunities. A kind of business freedom.
In fact we were, both of us, talking about intimacy. And I thought that far away from great values, ideas or philosophy, freedom was very much linked with intimacy.
